Singapore is now the Costliest City to Live in – Do you Agree?

I would say that to make claims that Property rental is that high is quite far fetched.

1. Property rental
Singapore: A three-bedroom apartment, of between 1,200 – 1,500 sq ft, averages $8,000 a month.
New York: A three-bedroom apartment, of between 950 – 1,800 sq ft, ranges from US$1,750 (S$2,221) – US$2,500 in the outlying neighbourhoods to US$6,000 to US$15,000 in Manhattan.

Unless you are referring to CBD Rental, even units at The Sail, a 3 bedroom unit can be found for $7000-$8000, but you do not need to stay there, you can easily find something much cheaper even at Tanjong Rhu or Tiong Bahru all minutes to CBD.
Many Expats should consider living in HDB, because HDB despite all the ruling on where you can actually rent – is much more convenient in terms of transport and food, and there is lots of savings there. A 2 bedroom apartment fully furnished right next to the MRT 700sqft, will be about $2600-$2800 per month.
