Simon Cheong’s – SC Global Development, the developer of Newton 200, which is presently under construction, right next to Goldhill Centre on the former site of Shell petrol station (at the junction of Newton road and Thomson road).
Now that Goldhill Centre is up for en bloc sale and the tender is closing on Aug 19, will SC Global Development purchase this site and merge it eventually with Newton 200? Well anything is possible, of course we too believe that UOL which owns United Square will also be very interested in this plot of land, which is just less than a 100 ft away from the boundaries of their development. If it is able to secure this piece, it would be able to connect United Square directly with the Novena MRT station, allowing shoppers to stream directly from Velocity @ Novena and continue over to United Square seamlessly.
I believe that both property heavyweights had their eye on this delicious and beautiful piece of land for quite some time already. How fast the en bloc sale would take to conclude, we will know in approximately 30 days time.
